When I was 2 ½ years old I was in an automobile accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down with an injury T10-T11 incomplete. This accident also took the life of my father.
While spending a year in the Shriners hospital for rehabilitation, a therapist introduced me to wheelchair sports. At the age of 5, I discovered wheelchair track and have been competing ever since, except when I took a 2 year hiatus when I was the age of 12-13.
I am now 18 years old and completed my high school career. I attended Northeast Magnet High School in Wichita, KS. My magnet area was Law, so what this means is on top of my normal high school courses I also took Law courses. This school has high academic standards and my sphomore through senior year I managed to maintain a 4.0 grade point average. I lettered in academics and also lettered in Law. I also played tennis for my high school and lettered in tennis playing againist all able bodied players.
My year round coaching and training schedule is by Peter Eriksson, 2005 Canada’s coach of the year.
I signed with the University of Arizona in early 2007. My plans for a major are not decided yet. I also want to make the US Paralympic team for the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing, China.
